Washington Transition: Libby Mullin Leaving the ICA

Transition is the operative word in Washington these days.  And, I am sad to report that after nearly ten years as the voice of people with IC on Capitol Hill, Libby Mullin is moving on.

During her tenure with the ICA, Libby was instrumental in ensuring millions of federal research dollars were dedicated to IC (including funds for the MAPP, RAND, basic science RFA, and various clinical trial research initiatives); funding was secured to raise public awareness about IC; and patient rights were safeguarded.  The ICA is also grateful for her willingness to serve as an ICA public spokesperson and management adviser.

As many of you are aware, Libby has expanded her healthcare consulting practice during the past year.  And, we look forward to her continued efforts within the health arena including healthcare reform and women's health.

The ICA is conducting a competitive bidding process to secure government affairs consulting services.  It is our intent to continue to be an active voice for IC patients, healthcare providers, and researchers, and to ensure that the ICA is an effective and noticeable presence on Capitol Hill.

Occasionally in life you meet someone with a magnetic personality who really lights up a room.  Libby is one of those unique individuals.  We will miss her guidance and consultation.  Please join me and everyone at the ICA in thanking Libby for her achievements and wishing her much success with her future endeavors.
