Interstitial cystitis (IC) is scheduled to be the topic of the Thursday, April 16 episode of The Doctors, a popular daily television program that offers expert healthcare advice. Renowned IC expert and Interstitial Cystitis Association (ICA) Medical Advisory Board member Kristene Whitmore, MD, is the featured IC specialist on the IC episode, which was taped last week in Los Angeles. On the show, Dr. Whitmore evaluates a person who suspects that she has IC but has not been able to get a definitive diagnosis from other doctors that she has seen.
Dr. Whitmore commented that she enjoyed doing the show and would be glad to come back when they revisit the topic. Also, the producers of The Doctors are putting the patient in touch with the ICA for support and help in finding healthcare providers in her area.
Launched in 2008, The Doctors addresses compelling issues in a frank manner and dispenses valuable information about health topics. The show is hosted by four physicians from varied medical specialties (emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, plastic/reconstructive surgery, and pediatrics).
